Sandy Dole has over 40 years of long-term care experience, both institution and community based, planning, implementing and administering programs for elders and other individuals with special needs.  She has worked as an activity professional, marketing director, admissions' coordinator, resource developer, and public relations director.  Several years ago she started a consulting business, Activities for Geriatric Enrichment, (AGE).  Throughout her professional life, her primary focus has been elder advocacy and quality of life for residents as well as staff in long term care facilities.  She is a Del Tech graduate, with an A.A.S. in Human Services Gerontology Technology.  Sandy served on the CMS Panel of Experts for F248/249. She is a founding member of the Delaware Culture Change Coalition and serves as the organization's Culture Change Champion.

She has served on the boards of several agencies and organizations that provide support services and assistance to elders in a variety of settings.  Sandy is past President of the Delaware Council of Activity Professionals and serves as the state contact to the National Association of Activity Professionals, and the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.  She is a member of the review committee for the Delaware Health Care Facilities' State Certification Program for Activity Directors.  She has served on the boards of directors of the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals, and the National Association of Activity Professionals. She was appointed by Governor Markell and currently serves on the Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators.

Her not so professional life has included a strong interest in humor, which inspired her involvement in clowning as a volunteer, and as a teacher of the art to individuals of all ages, including nursing home residents.
